For Authors
We invite researchers in Computer Science, Information Systems, and related disciplines to submit original, unpublished work to SACJ. Submissions are welcome from all countries; we particularly encourage high-quality work from authors in less-developed countries and from the African continent.
Scope
SACJ publishes full research articles and shorter communication articles in the following areas (not exhaustive):
- Algorithms and theoretical computer science
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science
- Computer networks and distributed systems
- Computer science education
- Databases and information retrieval
- Human-computer interaction
- Information systems and management
- Natural language processing
- Security, privacy, and cryptography
- Software engineering and formal methods
- Special issues on themes relevant to Africa
Open Access and Article Processing Charges
SACJ is a fully open-access journal. Published articles are freely available to all readers without subscription fees. A publication fee of ZAR 6 000 covers production costs. This fee may be waived for authors who lack institutional funding — please indicate this in your submission cover letter.
Peer Review
All submitted manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the relevant area. Authors should ensure their submission contains no identifying information.
Submission Guidelines
- Manuscripts must be submitted as a single PDF file.
- Formatting should follow the SACJ author template (LaTeX preferred; Word accepted).
- Research articles are typically 10–20 pages; communications are up to 8 pages.
- An abstract of 100–250 words and up to six keywords are required.
- All references must follow ACM or IEEE style consistently.
- Simultaneous submission to other venues is not permitted.
After Acceptance
Upon acceptance, authors will receive proofs for correction. The final, published PDF is assigned a DOI and made freely available. Authors retain copyright under an open licence that allows others to read, share, and adapt the work with appropriate attribution.
